"People Demand the Filth" for wanting to hear about crime in their nieghborhood? What about "Shrewd is the one that has seen the calamity... blah, blah, blah," are they saying instead people should just read about puppies and flowers? So stupid.

Can Satan enter your mind if you stop thinking?
by God_Delusion inas a kid, my brilliant pioneering mother told me that if i stopped thinking, satan and his demons could enter my mind.
am i the only one that was told this useless drivel?
is there a watchtower article that sort of backs this up?.

That's why people have nightmares: Demons! I suppose nightly prayers are suposed to ward them off and protect you while you sleep. (seriously, though, I never realized before how demon-focused JWs are).

Perfection........
by criticalwitness inwhat exactly is perfection?
for instance jesus had to learn things like being a carpenter learning how to read with learning comes mistakes.
if put him on a golf coarse he would not auttomatically sink a hole in one everytime.

God's idea of perfection and free will don't seem to go together. Just like when He said "Choose today whom you will serve, me or the other gods. By the way, if you choose the other gods than I'll kill you. But it's your choice. Just know that I'll kill you if you reject me, but like I said, it's up to you."

It took me a long time to write this...i'm staying.
by MsGrowingGirl20 init took me a long time to write this....i'm being brutally honest...i am still a reg pioneer...three sundays ago,i was praying and asking god for a sign or something because i was so confused...i told him exactly what i needed to see for me to believe.i was feeling terrible--crying and feeling sick because i was so confused.ten minutes after, i walked into the kingdom hall and to my surprise--my prayer was answered!
i soooo wasn't expecting it, even though i prayed.
so this is where almighty god wants me to be,ii've reasoned.

Everyone has their own delusions to get them through life, so if that's yours than be happy with that life. But if you're ever not happy pretending, or can't turn your brain off again, the rest of the world will still be here for you (No, it's not going away anytime "soon").

Plaintiff awarded in punitive damages -21M & 1 dollar. Total award, 28M & 1 dollar. Here's more info
by AndersonsInfo inthe plaintiff, candace conti's goal from the very beginning was to bring enough attention to this problem to incentivize watchtower to change its policy of secrecy.
the award can be explained as it was decided: separate compensatory and punitive damages.
the punitive award is established in law to punish wrongdoing - here, the conscious disregard for others - and deter that conduct in the future.

This is telling: From the Watchtower's Trial Memorandum, page 10, heading V. is titled "The Church Defendants had no legal duty to report child sexual abuse to authorities" and here's what the WT lawyer had to say, starting on line 26"
"In this case, the two elders received a confession in November 1993 from Jonathan Kendrick as stated above. The elders had no legal duty to report the incident to the authorities, because the law at that time did not require ministers to do so. In addition, this confession by Kendrick was received by the elders in the course of the discipline and practice of the Jehovah's Witness faith and was intended to be kept confidential. As such, it was also privileged and not subject to disclosure in any fashion beyond those dictated by the protocols and procedures of the Jehovah's Witness faith. The Church Defendants assert that, even if received today, that confession by Kendrick would be privileged." (emphasis mine).

Why did Lazarus Pay for his sins twice?
by criticalwitness inaccording to j dub doc the wages sins pays is death meaning to them death covers your debt of sin when lazarus died did he not pay his debt?
so when jesus resctd him why did he die again?
when jesus brought him back did he creat or recreat an imperfect being on the sinful road to destruction?
-
I Want to Believe
Yes, Jesus did raise back an imperfect person, which is something I always thought strange about the resurrection in general: After the Big A, God is supposed to bring back everyone, even those dead for thousands of years, into brand new bodies. It was even mentioned at one point in a WT that they may not even have the same exact physical features (sorry, don't have the CD library on me), yet they will all still need to "grow to perfection" over a thousand years. Wouldn't that mean that, after death paid for their sin and Jesus already paid the ransom that Jehovah would have to create brand new sinful bodies for them? WTH?

How long until we see a "Sunday School" program?
by Cinciguy74 inso we are seeing wt videos aimed at children, a feature for children in the watchtower aimed at young children, just how long until we start seeing some form of a sunday school for young children?.
i know in the past it has been ridiculed by the wts, but the reality is that it is a better method for teaching children than sitting in the kh where they can't sit still for more than 5 minutes anyway..

At my old Hall's WT study, a full 75% of the answers were from children. The books and brochures have been getting dumbed down for over a decade. The magazines now have Highlights for Children and the new DC releases are cartoons. I think the real question is "Will they ever start to produce material for adults again?" And the answer is No, because the parent/child relationship dynamic the GB has with the R&F is how they exert control.

I read the whole thing and, despite its length, found the reasonings succinct and the stories interesting. Thanks.
